The application filing period for Criminalist with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - Scientific Services Bureau opens 01/16/2024 at 0800hrs. This is an entry-level position and incumbents may be assigned to work in the following disciplines: Toxicology (alcohol and drug, including breath instrument calibration), Controlled Substances, Firearms, Trace Evidence (hairs/fibers, footwear & tire, fire debris/ignitables, explosives, gunshot primer residue, etc.), Crime Scene Investigation, or Biology (DNA). The LASD Crime Lab is a full-service laboratory with 273 employees serving a large metropolitan area. It is a great place to gain broad experience. After two years of experience (or one year with certain advanced degrees), incumbents are eligible for promotion to the significantly higher-paid Senior Criminalist position. There are additional opportunities for further upward mobility to supervisory and management positions. [/size]The Virginia Department of Forensic Science (DFS) is seeking a qualified candidate to perform Firearm and Toolmark examinations at the Eastern Regional Laboratory, located in Norfolk, Virginia. The department will be filling two positions from this posting.[/color] [/size][/font][/size][/size]This Forensic Scientist position examines, compares, and evaluates firearms, ammunition components, clothing, tools and objects bearing toolmarks. Responsibilities include the documentation of evidence, interpreting results, preparing reports of findings for use by the Criminal Justice System, preparing court exhibits and testifying in court as an expert witness. Occasional overnight travel is required, and employee will provide their own transportation as required.[/size][/size]To be considered qualified, candidates must be eligible to apply for the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) membership, have completed a documented training program and demonstrate competency in Firearm and Toolmark comparison analysis.The documented training program and demonstration of competency can consist of relevant academic coursework, internal or external training courses, and competency tests, but must meet the Virginia Department of Forensic Science's training requirements for the candidate to be considered qualified. Records documenting the successfully completed coursework, training and testing will be requested.

Order printer. Ship to AK. Use for class. Add to raffled items. Profit? Ender 2 Pro would be an easy to set up and use printer. Unfortunately shipping expense may be only downside.

Alternatively, you could pre-print the parts and mail it up to the host committee.
Edit: missed the part about needs a 3D printer as well. Go with Dustin's suggestion as long as you're not trying to print a whole firearm for demonstration purposes. Might take longer than a full day workshop. Smaller parts, sure.

Maybe the Anchorage University has a 3D printer. I know that the university in Flagstaff does.
