Los Angeles Police Department Crime Laboratory
Position: Firearm Examiner
Location: Los Angeles, California
Salary Range: $70,000 - $87,000

GENERAL DUTIES: Responsibilities include the analysis of firearm evidence related to criminal investigations.
These duties include but are not limited to examining firearms for operational capabilities, comparison of fired projectiles and cartridge cases, firearm component examinations, gunshot residues analysis for distance determinations, tool mark examinations and comparisons, serial number restorations, operation of the NIBIN/IBIS system, interpretation of laboratory analyses and results, preparation of written reports, and the ability to testify as an expert witness. Knowledge of the ASCLD/LAB accreditation requirements is desirable.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree and four years of forensic laboratory experience as a firearm examiner.
Applicants must be able to successfully pass an oral and practical examination, background investigation, and medical examination.
