Title: Arabic Headstamp?
Post by: Scott Doyle on October 14, 2005, 03:50:39 PM
Here's one that looks familiar.  Just received this in a case.

It's a 9mm Luger cartridge, copper FMJ bullet.

Purple primer sealant.

Scott,

From George Kass's guide:

MILITARY FACTORY No. 27
ALEXANDRIA
ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT

9mm Luger caliber, brass cases, made from 1973-1980.
The symbols at four o'clock mean "27" (the factory number),
and the symbols at eight o'clock stand for the year made, such as "73".

Have a good one!

We have a box of Egyptian stuff in our collection.  If i recall correctly, it's corossive.  You may not want to let that case age too long if the bad guy did indeed shoot corossive stuff through it.

Thanks Alison,  I thought I had seen the headstamp before.  I guess it was at one of the training seminars when George gave his opening update on ammo.

Thanks for the tip on the corrosive nature of the ammo Chris.
