Post by: Sheila Hopkins on May 21, 2012, 11:47:58 AM
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) will be hosting a Toolmark Identification and Comparison class July 30-August 3, 2012 at the National Laboratory Center in Ammendale, Maryland.

This class supports the identification and comparison of toolmarks commonly encountered in criminal investigations. It is highly technical in nature and not recommended for firearm and toolmark examiner trainees. Students will receive training in tool manufacture, common tool action and the toolmarks they produce as well as perform fracture and physical match examinations. Students will receive pre-course material approximately two weeks before the class which they are responsible to complete prior to arrival.

Those interested in attending the class can complete the State and local registration form attached.  Completed registration forms can be faxed to 202-648-6065 (not the number on the registration form) or e-mailed to Sheila Hopkins at sheila.hopkins@atf.gov.  Additional information can be found at http://atf.gov/training/firearms/law-enforcement-training.html (http://atf.gov/training/firearms/law-enforcement-training.html) or by contacting Jim Yurgealitis at 202-648-6060 or Sheila Hopkins at 202-648-6061.
