The North Dakota Office of Attorney General Crime Lab is hiring a Forensic Scientist I or II in the Firearm/Toolmark Unit. We are the only crime laboratory serving the state so all evidence from the state is examined in our lab in Bismarck. We are a growing laboratory with approximately 30 analysts covering Forensic Chemistry, Toxicology, DNA, Latent Prints, and Firearms/Toolmarks. Starting salary for a level I position is $59,184 and for a level II position the salary is commensurate with experience. If you enjoy hunting and fishing and being in the outdoors, North Dakota has what you are looking for!

If you haven't already, I suggest reviewing various R&D-related areas of the AFTE website (https://afte.org/resources/research-development), unpublished research database, and Research Design Assistance Subcommittee.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a PhD topic on shooting scene reconstruction
I really want this project to be not just academic, but applicable in the field. As I'm already a firearm examiner, I have access to a lot of resources and I'm not restricted by academic constraints.
I already have an idea in my head that I'm working on, but I would love to hear your ideas.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Yes, just in front of the rifling, there is a heavy set of ring-marks.

Very nice cast, Kirk. These rifles often had a "ringed" or "stepped" neck. Is that the case with the rifle you have?
