Firearms and Too Mark Examiners for DEPLOYMENT

Description:  
The Firearms and Tool Marks Examiner will conduct forensic examinations of firearms and tool marks on crime related evidence, identify the microscopic markings left on evidence in criminal investigations and how they relate to firearms or tools that made these markings, conducts complete scientific test if firearms evidence using laboratory equipment, prepares documentation and reports on the results of the collection and analysis of evidence.

Principal duties and responsibilities
•  Process various types of evidence for latent prints.
•  Conduct examination of lead and other metal fragments, bullets, ammunition components and firearms.
•  Examination of tool marks as having been produced by a particular tool
•  Conduct shot pattern and gunshot residue examinations
•  Conduct trajectory analysis and the collection, preservation and processing of evidence and event reconstruction.
•  Prepare detailed reports on processes performed and results.
•  Train personnel in the area of latent prints.
•  Maintain and document the chain of custody of evidence.
•  Prepare detailed reports on processes performed and results.
•  Collect and preserve possible DNA evidence.
Location - Iraq/Afghanistan

Requirements:
•  Must be a highly qualified Firearms and Tool Marks Examiner with at least five (5) years experience.
•  Must have been the lead of a team of firearms and tool mark analysts at least one (1) year
•  Must be able to work well in a team environment.
•  Must be AFTE certified
•  Organizational skills
•  Possess the ability to teach classes and brief information pertaining to processing of Firearms and ammunition components.
•  Experience processing evidence with chemicals in a laboratory setting.
•  Physically able and willing to rotationally deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan a minimum of six months a year.
•  Able to obtain a US Military secret clearance and US Passport.
•  Must be a US Citizen.
