Fellow Examiners and Practitioners – we are excited to announce a location and date for the 2022 AFTE Eastern Regional meeting being hosted by the FBI Laboratory Division.


When: 6-8 November 2022

Travel day – Sunday, 6 November
  • Check in for those who plan to use on-site lodging.
  • Meals and Lodging Package Rates for On-site Participants: GSA Rates for Shepherdstown, WV (ZIP 25443) (Lodging $98, M&IE $59)
  • *Check-in time is between 1pm-9pm.
Meeting – Monday, 7 November
  • AFTE Eastern Regional meeting (8:00am – 5:00pm)
  • Check-out time is until 12noon.
  • Optional – two-night stay for those who plan to use Tuesday as a travel day.
Travel day – Tuesday, 8 November
  • Check-out time is until 12noon.
Meals:
  • Attendees who lodge on-site must participate in the NCTC Meal Plan that begins with dinner on the day of check-in and ends with lunch on the day of check-out.
  • Breakfast is served from 6:30a – 8:30a; Lunch is served between 11:30a – 1:00p; Dinner is served from 5:30p – 7:30p.
  • Guests who lodge off-site or commute may elect to take their meals a la carte or purchase a lunch pass.

We are limiting the number of participants for the meeting this year with a 50-person maximum on attendees. Unlike previous years, we will neither host a familiarization shoot nor provide a vendor area. We are working on the agenda and seek your input as a presenter but will cover topics surrounding the firearms/toolmarks discipline and all the advancements and accomplishments since 2019. Next step is to hold your spot and provide us with a little bit of information.

Update: virtual option, meals/lodging, and meeting agenda

Thank you for positive responses so far. Attendees are excited to be back together to learn from one another and motivated to engage and collaborate on discipline topics.
  • We aren't offering a virtual option at this time, but if that changes -- we will notify interested attendees via AFTE Forums.
  • Breakdown of Meals/Lodging at NCTC: $172 per person/per night | Lodging $98 | Meals $54 (B $13, L $15, D $26) | Sustainability Fee $20
  • We are finalizing a meeting agenda and there are a couple of available spots for presenters. Please send us an email with your presentation details.
  • About 5 spots remain for anyone who is still considering attending.
