Classic Text alternative - one to recommend?
« on: October 03, 2006, 07:35:02 PM »
I have been trying, but so far with no leads, to locate the Bible of Firearms ID, Fireams ID by Hatcher, Jury, and Weller.  Anyone know if there is a more current version out yet, or any leads on how to find the one written in the 70's?

Thanks much.

Sincerely,

Mike

Used copies are available on ABEbooks.com, and, probably other sites that sell used books.

Also, I think Ray Riling Books was going to do a reprint of it making it a bit more affordable.

Hatcher's Firearms Identification is certainly a "must have" to any book lover in this discipline, but if it is the Bible, it would really just be the Old Testament. If you are new to the discipline and are looking for a good general reference, you might want to get a copy of Brian J. Heard's book ; Handbook of Firearms and Ballistics: Examining and Interpreting Forensic Evidence

Sorry Harry, I thought it was you looking for the book.  Mike might want to contact Bob at the Rhode Island Crime Lab regarding the Hatcher's book.
