Cartridge headstamp identification
« on: February 13, 2007, 12:11:41 AM »
I have a military type cartridge, appears to be a .30-06 type, with a headstamp marked "A.Y.R. 54" and a crimped primer.  I am trying to determine the location/origin of this cartridge.

Hi John,

these cartridges where made by Raufoss Ammunisjonsfabrikker / Norway
AYR=Ammunisons Fabrikker Raufoss

There are probably dots between the letters. = A.Y.R.
The 54 one we know of has also a little R on the primer

Ist there a star on the headstamp?

Greetings

Axel

with compliments from www.CartWinPro.com ;)

Axel,

Cut down that response time by about 30 to 35 minutes and you might give the Texas Bandito a run for his money ;D
