Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $21.97/hr. - $34.13/hr. - Pay Range 12
Basic Duties
Include but not limited to: conducts tests on evidence (e.g., bullets, tool marks, blood, semen or other body fluids or tissues, paints, poisons, alcohol, clothing, tire prints, fingerprints, handwriting, typewriter characteristics, check protectors, inks, paper, rubber stamps, weapons, drugs, narcotics) provided by law enforcement officers & agencies in areas of analytical expertise (e.g., firearms, tool marks, chemicals, micro-biological, latent fingerprints, handwriting analysis trace evidence & DNA); develops conclusions & formulates opinions based on sound scientific analytical processes; prepares laboratory reports for use by law enforcement personnel & courts of law; may receive, log & transport crime-related evidence. NOTE: A TRANSCRIPT MUST BE INCLUDED WHEN APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION.

Unusual Working Conditions
Exposed to caustic chemicals, explosives, odors, firearms, drugs, decomposing tissue & physiological fluids & contagious diseases. May require overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a directly related science (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science, Physics, Health Science, Medical Technology, etc.). -OR- 4 years training & experience directly related to the forensic discipline, which includes one year of college level chemistry (ten semester hours, including lab hours, or equivalent), as recognized by the Crime Lab Director. -OR- 4 years experience as a crime lab examiner in the forensic discipline may be substituted for college qualifications.
