Do crime labs typically favor hiring qualified prior-military folks?

I think that most labs will certainly see prior military service as a plus as it relates to a persons work ethic.

Experience in working with firearms is certainly a plus, but for most labs hiring individuals for entry level positions, it is not a requirement.

The degree an individual has opens the door in most cases.  A four-year forensic science degree is becoming more and more common for new hires.  Where Criminal Justice/Admin backgrounds are allowed, the military experience would most likely be a big plus.

I would not say that labs "favor" the military backgrounds as we just don't see that many applicants that qualify based on their education and have the military experience.

Everyone that qualifies is usually treated equally in the hiring process.
