Miami Dade Crime Lab Firearms Position

The Miami-Dade Police Department Crime Laboratory

Firearms/Toolmark Examiner:  The Laboratory is looking for both entry and experienced Examiners (Criminalist) for the Forensic Identification Section to fill anticipated vacancies in the Fall/Winter 2004.

Candidates must have at least a BS degree in a natural science, forensic science or related fields.  The applicant must pass a polygraph, background, and drug screening prior to hiring.
 
The position entails the examination of firearms, bullets, casings, serial numbers, tool marks, footwear and tire impressions, powder residues and related evidence.  The candidate must be able to work independently, write reports, testify in court and be part of a team.  On occasion, the employee will be called upon to teach and give presentations.  

Starting Salary(apx.) Entry: $40k,  Criminalist 2 (experienced): $45k
