Quality Assurance and Technical Manager
•   one temporary (12 months)

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Centre of Forensic Sciences requires your forensics expertise in firearms and toolmarks and quality assurance principles and practices.
 
You will:

• manage the technical and scientific framework for the delivery of forensic firearms and toolmarks casework services across the province of Ontario
• oversee the technical operations of the firearms and toolmarks discipline at the Centre of Forensic Sciences
• evaluate all scientific and technical methods used by the laboratory and propose new or modified analytical procedures to be used by examiners
• maintain responsibility for the technical problem solving of analytical methods and for the oversight of training, quality assurance, safety and proficiency testing in the laboratory
• manage the Quality System in the firearms and toolmarks discipline to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Centre of Forensic Sciences Quality System and all associated quality standards pertaining to the ISO 17025-based accreditation status

Location: 25 Grosvenor Street, Toronto, Ontario

What we are looking for:  

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
• demonstrated knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of firearms and toolmarks and the ability to manage a professional program normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in one of the physical, life or forensic sciences and/or relevant work experience
• advanced knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices to meet and maintain accreditation requirements to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 17025 standards in a forensic laboratory
• casework experience as a reporting forensic scientist in a forensic firearms and toolmarks laboratory
• oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate complex technical information, provide clear instructions to a diverse group of peers, scientific and technical staff and provide expert testimony in court

Salary range:  $76,666.00 - $99,591.00 per annum
