FIREARMS SECTION

Annual Salary Range: $40,948.18

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s or an advanced degree in physical, biological or forensic science from an accredited college or university with completion of at least 20 credit hours in physical or biological science related coursework graded at a “C” or better.
Professional experience as a court qualified analyst in an accredited forensic laboratory or institution in the firearms discipline may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Preference will be given to those applicants with three years of professional experience in:
- Test firing weapons and comparing tests microscopically with submitted bullets, cartridge cases and shot shells.
- Examining weapons for mechanical and functioning condition (broken or missing parts, whether subject to accidental discharge, trigger pressure, etc.).
- Conducting necessary examinations, tests and microscopic comparisons to identify various tools that are suspected of having been used in criminal offenses.
- Courtroom testimony related to firearms identifications.
