Firearm & Toolmark Examiner - Wichita, Kansas

The Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center is seeking qualified applicants for an anticipated opening in the Firearm and Tool Mark Section. This is a full time salaried position as a Firearm and Tool Mark Examiner in Wichita, Kansas.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the evaluation, classification and identification of firearm and toolmark related evidence using chemical and instrumental methods.
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in chemistry, biology, forensic science or a related field with an emphasis in physical/chemical science course work.
Preferred Requirements: Fully trained and qualified Firearm and Tool Mark Examiner with prior experience working in a forensic laboratory. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in forensic science. Participation in a documented internship and/or have performed the duties of a technician within a firearm and toolmark section of a forensic laboratory.  Prior experience in the safe handling of firearms. Membership in AFTE.
