Partial PhD Scholarship Opportunity in UK
« on: July 23, 2013, 06:54:34 AM »
Dear All,

My name is Dr. Rachel Bolton-King and I am a lecturer in Forensic Investigation in the UK with specialisms in forensic firearms identification and ballistics.

I wanted to make the AFTE community aware that I am currently seeking potential applicants to undertake a PhD offered in the field of forensic firearms identification and ballistics.

This is a partial PhD scholarship, which aims to commence in September 2013 at Staffordshire University (Stoke-on-Trent, UK).

An official advert will be placed soon on www.jobs.ac.uk and application forms can be downloaded from http://www.staffs.ac.uk/postgradform/. The university website (www.staffs.ac.uk) is also currently being populated with further information related to the PhD and I will post a link as soon as this is made live.

Please e-mail/message me if you are interested in more information about the proposed research and are interested in applying for the above PhD.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
Rachel

Dear All,

Apologies that the previous hyperlinks may not work, however, these should do now:

University website - http://www.staffs.ac.uk

PhD requirements in the School of Sciences - http://www.staffs.ac.uk/research/opportunities/phd/ces/index.jsp

PDF application form(s) - http://www.staffs.ac.uk/postgradform/

For completion of the application form, please identify that this PhD will be funded by Staffordshire University through a partial scholarship and that the title of the PhD is:

'Investigation into the effectiveness of using fired shotgun pellets to determine firing distance, barrel length and gauge'.

This will involve using methods of comparison macroscopy, microscopy and 3D imaging technologies, amongst others.

If you would like further information as to what the PhD research project is likely to entail, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
Rachel
