Does anyone know what this primer designation means? Its on a 9mm Luger cartrdige from a box of 115 gr UMC. The cartridge is beat up and looks terrible. See the next post for the image

Sorry Attachment is not going as easily as one might think!

I beleive it stands for "Heavy-metal Free" (HF) or lead-free primer.
They make a lead-free line of UMC ammo.

Check out Remington/UMC Lead Free ammo with "Lead/Heavy Metal-free primers" . They use heavy metal free primers in the Disintegrator Plated Frangible ammo. As I recall, the HF stands for Heavy Free. I don't have any standards to compare to.

How about adding a primer stamp section to the AFTE Headstamp Gallery?
Here's what I could scrounge up...
If you know of others, please post them here.
Thanks,

Excellent idea!

That's a very good idea. If I happen across any primer stamps in casework that are different from the ones you posted, I'll post them for inclusion in the gallery.

Here's two more...

Magtech Clean Range (CR)
Remington LeadLess (HF)

Ran across some reloaded ammo this week, with primers that have a stacked "H" and "F" on them. Seems like I've seen those before, but just where escapes me right now. Any ideas?

There is a picture of your primer in the AFTE Headstamp Gallery - Primer section. :) Unfortunately there is no information attached. :(

I believe it means Heavy Metal Free. No lead in the priming. Made by Remington I think.

Here are some threads that talk about this Primer Stamping. You might want to combine these if you have time Richard. Not to put it on you, but I know you have been doing some of that and probably know how to do it pretty well.
Also Mr. Wright you might want to update the Headstamp Gallery with the info on this as it is not listed . . . you know, when you're done fooling around with those AFTE 2008 DVDs ;).
