What is everyone using to get to and from the airport? I checked SuperShuttle and the lowest price is $97.00. How far is the airport from the hotel??
I was tentatively figuring on getting a taxi, but haven't really nailed down a plan, yet.
AFTE has on their website that it's ~27.00 from Miami International to the hotel. But UBER and LYFT also available. I'm probably going to cab it to the hotel.
Stacey,
Are you flying into Fort Lauderdale? The hotel is not far enough away from MIA to have that kind of price.
I wonder if something is wrong with their website? I knew that didn't sound right as I had previously checked it out, but it seems that the only ride options showing now are private cars, which is very strange, especially since all COVID restrictions have lifted in Florida.
Edited: I checked several other shuttle websites and they all seem to only be offering private car services now at a hefty price. Odd.
Here is some info from the event planner that we are working with for the 2021 meeting. Hope this helps alleviate concerns.
The hotel doesn't offer shuttle service to/from the airport, but there are 2 lines of public transportation that stop at 2 stations nearby:
Public Transit Centers:
Riverwalk Metromover Station – Lightrail 908
Knightcenter Metromover Station – Lightrail 908 and 909
The Metromover is very easy and cost efficient.
Supershuttle was actually bought out (and subsequently shutdown) in 2020 which is why only private cars will show up (at a pretty high rate) when searching on those sites. We had looked into seeing if we could get a discount code for them for Austin and ended up finding out they were no longer in business.
We also have this tab on the Miami website for ground transportation: https://na.eventscloud.com/website/5507/gr-transportation/ (https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fna.eventscloud.com%2Fwebsite%2F5507%2Fgr-transportation%2F&data=04%7C01%7Cewallace%40bexar.org%7C66c374b16fa4431f407308d94c466c30%7C3070dd581eae48d484c762b0772c5352%7C1%7C0%7C637624687664241916%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=FUqgfvu4AuAv9rHeMemtUWKYJKCs2tErpW33wXNyMwQ%3D&reserved=0)
We will be sending out a "Before You Go" email about a week or so prior and will detail the steps for using the Metromover to make it easy for those who may never have used public transportation of that sort.
Thanks everyone. I am flying into MIA. The hotel recommended SuperShuttle, so I will definitely look into the Metrorail
Stacey,
please be careful on the Metrorail particularly if you are coming in late.
:)
Hope this helps people with transport from the airport to the hotel should you wish to choose this method.
