Does anyone know where I can find an article (AFTE or other) on toolmarks created by a punch press? A keyword search in the Journal index comes up empty. Not finding anything in two books I have on tools either: Tools and How to Use Them & Cutting Tool Applications. Thanks!

Punch Press is the machine. The dies do the work and the action is shearing. Using those terms may help in finding more articles. Here is a pretty good one.

Didn't we have a toolmark proficiency a couple of years back that was trying to match punched out pieces of metal to the source?

Yep. It was CTS Test #11-529.
