Title: Getting to Hotel from SFO / OAK Airports
Post by: Andy Smith on February 05, 2007, 12:12:57 AM
As you might have noticed in some other postings or if any of you have talked to a host committee member, we are strongly urging everyone to use public transit if at all possible.  The rate for the parking garage is currently about $50 / day and the garages nearby are not that much better.  Also, there is a car rental service (Budget) in the hotel in case you need one during your stay.

I have attached a document that gives detailed directions on how to find the BART station for either SFO or OAK airports.  BART or Bay Area Rapid Transit is the transit system that services the airports and surrounding areas.  Once you are in the city of San Francisco, you will more likely use the MUNI system.

Feel free to visit BART at www.bart.gov for further information.

You can also take a taxi for about $35 - $45 one way from the airport to the hotel.  Taking a taxi from Oakland will be much more expensive as you have to cross the Bay Bridge which is notorious for bad traffic.

You can also take a shuttle service which usually averages around $15 to $30 one way.  I have included a few of the more common shuttles used in the area.  There web addresses are below.

Hopefully this will at least get you all started thinking about your transportation needs once you arrive in the area.

I will post more soon and post more information concerning MUNI, the local San Francisco Transit System.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any other committee memeber.
