Title: The San Francisco MUNI System - Getting Around the City
Post by: Andy Smith on March 24, 2007, 12:14:33 PM
Hello Everyone:

Getting around San Francisco is pretty easy with our MUNI sytem (bus, cable car, light rail).

The following webiste will be very useful to you all in seeing how the system runs and where it can take you.  http://www.sfmta.com/cms/home/sfmta.sfmta

Also, on this site, you can buy online or see where to purchase 3 or 7 day passes, these are called MUNI PASSPORT.  These passes give you access to all MUNI transportation (but not the BART system) at one low fee.  You can ride all you want, including the cable cars.  These tickets can also be purchased at the baggage claim information booths at SFO airport.

The MUNI website also has access to planning a particular route as well as maps of their routes and services.

There is also the CityPass which gives you a weeks worth of transportation (with the exception of BART), plus a book of tickets to get you into 7 attractions in the city.  Please visit the following website which will give you all the information on what the pass includes, valid dates, prices, and purchase information: http://www.citypass.com/city/sanfrancisco.html

Another interesting website is dedicated to the SF Cable Cars: http://www.sfcablecar.com/  From here you can look at the routes they operate on.  At the hotel, we are at the end of the California Street line @ Drumm St.

I have attached a basic map of where the hotel is located.  I have also attached 3 maps which give more of a breakdown of the city and the different areas/regions of the city.  On any map you look at, if you cannot find the Hyatt Regency, then look for Embarcadero Center or Justin Herman Plaza or Ferry Buidling and basically that is where the hotel is located.

Hopefully this will be of some use as you begin to plan your trip to San Francisco.  I will be posting more information as it become available and as I find better and more useful maps of the city and how to get around.

As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact anyone on the AFTE 2007 host committee.

Thanks,

Andy
