Technical Assistance / Browning A Bolt manufacture location
« Last post by mkmolt on August 14, 2024, 02:07:54 PM »
Hello,

Does anybody know of where the Browning A Bolt is manufactured? From research most look to be made in Japan, however, the one we received does not say made in Japan anywhere so am wondering if there are any that are made elsewhere?

Also asking if anyone has advice on any ways to adjust the search in e-trace when an "invalid" result comes back?

Thanks!
Malory

Job Announcements / Las Vegas is seeking a Trained Examiner! Closes August 29
« Last post by Roy Wilcox on August 08, 2024, 11:33:02 AM »
Hello from Fabulous Las Vegas!  Here at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, we’re currently recruiting for a trained examiner, someone who can join a really great and cohesive group of scientists, working for one of the best departments in the country.  Very good benefits are offered, great pay, and the work situation is ideal.  Here are some highlights:
  •          100% employer-paid medical (health/vision/dental) insurance for the employee and Extremely Reasonable rates for family coverage.
  •          No social security withholding if enrolled in Nevada’s PERS (state retirement program).
  •          No State Income Tax!
  •       4/10 Work Schedule (for example M-Th or Tue-Fri).
  •          All major holidays, PLUS 3 personal holidays per year, PLUS 3 bonus leave days (if minimal sick leave used).
  •          Nevada PERS is very generous, and employees are vested after 5 years.
  •          Compensation is VERY Competitive!  Please check out the links below for the postings and position-specific information.  Regular merit pay increases as well as a yearly-negotiated COLA (in July, it was 3%).
  •          Education Incentives – your BS/MS education comes with a nice, designated pay incentive each pay period.
Since moving here 8.5 years ago, here are some things I’ve learned about this city, raising a family here, and this department:
  •         Lots of fun things to see and do here as well as within a short drive.  The beaches of California, with theme parks, along with the amazing fishing and camping in Utah are just a short drive away.  Also, some of the most beautiful national parks in the country are nearby:  Yosemite, Zion, Red Rock, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, and Arches.
  •         “Locals’ Discounts” are plentiful and amazing (cheap/free shows, meals, events, etc.).
  •         Airfare to/from Las Vegas is some of the most affordable anywhere.  As a family, we’ve traveled all over the world more in the last few years than ever before.
  •         Weather, even with about 2 hot (“dry heat”) months, is Awesome!
  •         Las Vegas is a dream city for sport fans:  UFC, Formula 1, NHL (Vegas Golden Knights), NFL (Raiders), WNBA (Aces), and MLB (Athletics) is coming!  Also, there are more college sports than normal since so many bowl games and conference tournaments are here.
  •         LVMPD is a fantastic department to work for, and well-supported by the community.  I came here from a much larger department and the upgrade was immediately noticed.  You are known, respected, appreciated, and the positivity is palpable.
  •         Las Vegas is one of the USA’s best Foodie Cities.
  •         Entertainment here is World-Class.  The best bands/shows/events end up around here.
The management in our lab is supportive, our close group of  scientists are positive, friendly and creative, and we’re well-funded by a department that values our contributions to the community.  If working in that kind of environment is appealing, let’s talk!
