The main purpose of the position is to coordinate and maintain the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network (NIBIN) database system to ensure that samples are entered into the system and information concerning leads and confirmed hits is released in a timely manner. Duties also include overseeing entries and correlations, monitoring laboratory technicians working with the system, triaging cases for entry, microscopy of evidence for hit confirmation, disseminating information to law enforcement agencies and assuring quality control of the NIBIN database.
