The Oakland Police Department is seeking applicants for two vacancies in the Firearms Unit. The vacancies are at the Criminalist II level (journey level Firearms Examiner) but may be filled at the Criminalist I level (Firearms Examiner trainee) if there are insufficient Criminalist II applicants.


Oakland has an extremely high firearms crime rate and working in the Firearms Unit offers an opportunity to develop experience in challenging casework, complex high throughput IBIS database work and shooting incident scenes.
