Starting Out...
« on: June 27, 2008, 05:34:01 PM »
I'm interested in the career of "Forensic Firearms Examiner".
Two questions come to mind:

Education - Is it possible to obtain the needed degree(s) online?
I read the prior post and the link was very helpful.

Physical - I have a disability, with only the use of one arm/hand (dominent right). Will this hinder my ability to complete the needed tasks? You wouldn't be able to tell my disability, as I keep up or pass most people.

Your advice is appreciated. Thank You.

Hi James,

I have looked over the internet for qualifications of being a forensic firearms examiner. Technical (which includes your educational background and experiences and seminars or workshops being attended) and physical aspects are of course being considered due to the nature of the work which requires physical endurance. However, agencies may want to consider you even if you have a disability as long as you perform well and do your job well. They might even consider you as their "asset" in the team. Don't lose hope.

Best luck!
