DEPARTMENT:       Harris County Sheriff's Department

HOURS:                     8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Available for Shift Assignments and/or On-Call Duty)
                          

SALARY:                   $3,161.00 per Month Entry Level

                                    Based on 26 Pay Periods      

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year institution with a major in Natural or Physical sciences (Forensic, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Material or Computer Science.)  Preferably have prior experience in a Firearms Laboratory and utilization of the IBIS technology.  

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the processing of firearms for entry into the Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS).  Receipt and management of evidence submitted, court testimonies, and other special or technical support of criminal investigations. This position is intended to serve as an entry-level position into the field of Firearms and Tool mark Identification. Testifies in court regarding investigations and identifications.  Responds to request for technical expertise from any criminal justice agency.
