Ammunition box manufacturers
« on: October 27, 2009, 09:43:06 AM »
Hello to everyone from a new member of AFTE Forums!

I post this message in the hope that  I can call on the expertise of the forum members in aiding me with some research I am conducting for an article I am constructing for future publication. I am  trying to ascertain who manufactured ammunition boxes, in particular cardboard ammunition boxes for small arms ammunition, for the Western Cartridge Company of East Alton, Illinois. The time frame I am studying centers around the Cold War era, in particular the 1950's. Do any of the Forum members have examples of these boxes that they would be willing to share via the Forum, in particular through the usage of j-peg images? I am interested in boxes that were utilized for both "commercial" concerns and "military" concerns/order. I openly admit to knowing little or nothing about this subject matter, but have been led to believe that these same manufacturers did, from time to time, place their information (i.e. company name, dating, etc) on these same boxes.

Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. I must say that I am glad that I found this Forum and have been extremely impressed with the information available. It is a tremendous fount of learning and I would like to thank the Forum administrators for allowing me to join and become a part of the community.

Regards,

Gary
