Brief Description

 
This position is located in the Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS). The mission of the DFS is to provide high-quality, timely, accurate, and reliable forensic science services using best practices and best available technology, focusing on unbiased science and transparency, to enhance public safety and health.

As a Leader the incumbent is responsible for performing the following to ensure that the strategic plans, mission, vision and values are communicated to the employees and integrated into strategies, goals, objectives, work  plans etc.;  Articulates and communicates to the team, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, deadlines and time frames for completion; Coaches the employees in the best  practices in use in selecting and applying appropriate problem solving methods and techniques, provides advice on work methods, practices and procedures, assists the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
 
Qualification
 
Time in Grade: Time in grade restrictions must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression. Time-in-grade requirements are applicable. Substitution of education for experience will be allowed as defined by the X-118 Qualifications Standards. However, in order to receive credit, you must submit official proof with your application.

Specialized Experience:  Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, at least five (5)years of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Selective Placement #1: Must possess a Bachelor's degree in a chemical and physical science from an accredited university; preferred five (5) years of experience, including two (2) years at supervisory level of responsibility.
 
May be required to work weekends and holidays.
