Unkown Ammunition Component
« on: August 25, 2016, 10:50:53 AM »
Good Morning Everyone,

During our reorganization of our laboratory standard ammunition file we found an unusual ammunition component that we have been unable to identify. I was wondering if anyone has seen something similar to this or could shed some light on its purpose.

Thanks

Jim,

I believe it is for a Para-Ordnance Model 85 full auto paintball gun. These are primer-powered cartridges using large pistol primers that propel a .375 paintball around 400fps at 1200 rounds/min. They are rare and a cool piece of history as this is the product that started the Para-Ordnance company back in the '80s. A lot of fun to shoot!

Thanks Darryl,

That is a neat piece of history. We have a box of around 25 of the primed cases, but were unsure of their purpose.

Darryl & J.
do you have a box of these in your collection?
I am still looking for a picture of the box and the bullet to be used in CartWinPro.

Here is a Little help to find it in CartWinPro:
If you search your CartWinPro caliber database for a
case length of 36 mm (+-0,5 mm) and a caliber of 9,5 mm (+- 0,2)
or
case length of 1.42"(+-0,02 mm) and a caliber of 375"(+- 0,01)

you will end up with two calibers.
One is Dye Marking .375 or Model 85

If you click on the relation button (3 hearts) it will take you to this cartridge.

Hope this helps

Have a great weekend!

Greetings
Axel

Axel, Unfortunately we do not have the original box, we actually found them in a .357 Magnum Black Hills box when sorting through our collection of older ammunition.
