The North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory has an opening for a scientist in the Firearms Identification Section. Minimum educational qualifications include a B. S. degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or related physical, natural, or forensic science from an accredited college or university. Previous firearms identification experience is desirable, but recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.

This position is open only to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The scientist in this position is assigned individual cases to completely work from evidence examination to report writing. Each scientist has individual lab space, office space, and basic lab equipment. The crime lab is located in the northwest corner of Louisiana, and has recently moved into a new facility (North Louisiana Forensic Sciences Center). Employees' benefits include participation in a retirement system and 100% health and dental insurance paid by the lab. The salary range is commensurate with education and experience.

Please send by email or regular mail a curriculum vitae and transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable). Applications without transcripts will not be considered. Valid driver's license required. Applicants will be subjected to a background check of criminal history. An interview in Shreveport will be necessary before hiring. This opening will be filled as soon as possible.
