FORENSIC SCIENTIST FIREARMS AND TOOLMARKS
The Fort Worth Police Department, Forensic Division is seeking applicants for Forensic Scientist Firearms and Toolmark to work in the firearms section of the Crime Laboratory. Full salary range is $42,598- $67,288. The firearms unit of the Crime Laboratory received ASCLD/LAB accreditation in 2005. The Department is currently assessing the need for a new facility that will deliver expanded forensic services to the City of Fort Worth.
The selected individual will perform laboratory analysis on physical evidence, provide scientific consultation, interpret test results and form conclusions, write scientific reports and provide expert witness testimony in court. We require the equivalent of a Bachelors Degree with major coursework in Forensic Science, Analytical Chemistry, Biology or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have:
One year practical experience working in a Forensic Laboratory
Completed a documented training program as a firearms and toolmark examiner
Membership with the Association of Firearm and Toolmark Examiners
Training and Experience with NIBIN
Qualified as an expert witness in court and have experience preparing reports for law enforcement agencies
Possess good oral and written communication skills for lay, legal and technical audiences
Familiarity with ASCLD/LAB requirements and good knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control principles and procedures
