Topic: 9mm FX (SNC) ammo used in France (including Box-picture)

Here a box and the cartridge + headstamp of the 9mm FX TIRED.
TIRED on the box doesn´t mean, that the bullet is "tired" ...its just stands short for "TIR REDUIT" or shortrange in english.
It shows as maker IVI from 1995, but the cartridge itself bears the mark SNC 9mm 95.
The box furthermore states: For Pistol Model MAS 9mmG1.
PA means Pistol Automatic, contrary to PM, which means Pistolet Mitrailleur = Submachine Gun

Again: Scale given is in Millimeter, not in inch...

Hello, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to post such useful information!  There are a lot of unusual cartridges that we will probably never see here in the US but there is always that one exception or two.  The sharing of information like this can only help!

This looks slightly similar to "Simunitions", but Sims have dye colors in them for practicing tactical situations...
Is this for public (as much as public can be in Europe) consumption, or for military practice?

In fact, it is from Simunition, but for "paper" practising; not for shooting at "humans". It can also be  used only in the special FX-Barrels from Simunition, but allows real practise shooting skills on paper-targets.
Its NOT for public sale, as the ammo has no CIP-Approvement and also the extra barrels needed, are
1) to expensive for privates and
2) are not on sale for privates.
They are maybe to get, but why using them, as "live" ammo is much cheaper, if you like practise-shooting. 1000 rounds live ammo (brass case, Boxer primed), do only cost 99,-€ (about 118USD). The FX-ammo costs nearly twice here....
The FX-ammo and the Simunition ammo are only used by Police units and some Military units here.
The US-Army here uses as Training and Marker ammo, the UTM-System (Have seen it personally at the big training camp Grafenwoehr/Bavaria)
If you like photos of this ammo and der principal system, let me knew, an I will post pictures of the ammo and a cut of them, to see the construction. (They use 2 (two!!)primers, in one round...
In .223 (5,56x45) the Training ammo has a RIMFIRE primer as first initial primer, to avoid accidently firing of a live round in training conditions.

The Simuniton might show more than you think.  It's made in Canada and I've toured the facility.  It's pretty neat stuff.  For all its small arms ammunition, SNC uses the "IVI" headstamp.  The SNC conglomorate bought out "Val Cartier Industries", but decided to continue using the same headstamp.  As an aside, since Canada is a bi-lingual country, the "IVI" is actually a linguistic compromise as it combines "Industrie Val Cartier" (French) & "Val Cartier Industries" (English) and not Industries Val Cartier Incorporated as generally thought.
