IBIS Expert for Matchpoint Reviews - Remote
« on: January 31, 2024, 12:57:27 PM »
Vacancy for an IBIS Expert.

Arquebus is looking to recruit a new member of the team on a full-time basis. The core role of the IBIS Expert will be to operate the Integrated Ballistic Identification System (IBIS) to conduct MATCHPOINT correlation reviews as part of Arquebus’ Managed Services business.

Arquebus Managed Services

As part of its portfolio of activities, Arquebus provides ‘Managed Services’ to international law enforcement agencies (LEAs). This focuses on one element of the ballistic forensic laboratory process, i.e., the correlation review of ballistic material acquired into the Integrated Ballistic Identification System (IBIS).

Due to the increased volume of gun enabled crime, combined with a lack of skilled technical resource, many countries have amassed significant backlogs of ballistic material. The knock-on effects of these backlogs to solving and preventing gun crime can be serious, since these countries can no longer generate fast time intelligence, which is essential for success. Arquebus helps reduce these backlogs by providing a remote IBIS correlation review service, supplementing the existing laboratory resources, and providing an essential element of the forensic investigation process.

Qualifications and Experience

- Experience as a firearms examiner.
- A recent IBIS training certificate.
- Must have experience completing IBIS correlation reviews.
- Must understand the ISO17025 regulations and be able to work within its parameters.

General Knowledge/Skills

The following knowledge and skills are not all-inclusive, but are indicative of the requirements for the role:

- The ability to work well as an integral part of a small, committed, and growing team.
- A flexible approach to meeting changing circumstances.
- A creative and open approach to problem solving.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience is preferred to prepare documents and worksheets.
- The capability to exercise good judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including a good command of the English language.
- To always act as an ambassador for Arquebus.
- Must be able to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the delivery of services is to the required standard.
- Ability to operate at the required standard following training in laboratory procedures and equipment operation.

Location

Arquebus is open to the post-holder being based at their home anywhere in the world, as long as they are open to travel to the UK periodically for training. The post holder will be provided with a remote IBIS MATCHPOINT analysis station so must have a suitable home working environment for this equipment.
