Toolmark examiner from Poland
« on: February 03, 2015, 01:00:17 AM »
Dear collegues,
my name is Robert and I am tollmark examiner. I work in Polish Police forensic laboratory. I have master degree and graduate Polytechnic faculty of mechanical, currently I start PhD on Warsaw Polytechnic. On my work I specialized on restoring VIN numbers (cars, truck, heavy machinery) and identify car parts coming from stolen cars.I have 4 years experience. At that moment I dont have firearms examiner permissions.
In the future I would like to work in usa in forensic laboratory as toolmark examiner,
Do I have chance work as toolmark examiner or I should start learn as firearms examiner (I have that possibility) to have bigger chance ?
Can you tell me what specialty is engaged in research vehicles with false identification marks in the US ?
Thank you for any ideas.
Sorry for my english (I am learning).
Regards, Robert.

Other than possible us US Postal Inspection Service I am not aware of any pure "toolmark examiners" in the US (I could be wrong!) so if you want to eventually attempt to work in the US it would be beneficial for you to learn the firearms aspect.
