Texas Rangers Game Friday 5/29

So....

As is becoming tradition for me in whatever city to which I travel, I was looking into seeing if I could catch a MLB game when I am in Dallas.

The Texas Rangers are home at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (halfway between Ft. Worth and Dallas) on Thursday and Friday (5/28 and 5/29).  I figure Thursday is the banquet, so I thought if anyone was going to be around Friday I'd see if anyone wanted to go to the game.

I'm on a Body Farm tour Friday and probably won't be back until 5 or 6, but I figure maybe it would be possible to head out to the ballpark afterwards.  It is a little bit ways away from the hotel and from Dallas - about 18 miles, 20ish minutes to the west.

I don't know about the logistics of getting there.  The best option would probably be if someone had a car.  In lieu of that, if there was a group of us, we could try to find a shuttle or get a cab and split the cost.  I've been told there are shuttle services to the ballpark that will pick you up at the downtown hotels.

I know a lot of people leave and won't be staying Friday night, but if anyone else is interested, I will most likely be trying to go out to the ballpark, so let me know :)

AWESOME!

Let's see how many people are interested and then we'll work on making it happen  :-00

Oh and they are playing Boston if that makes a difference to anyone!

Oh and also the game has a 7:05 pm start time.

If I do not have any other host committee duties, I would love to catch a game.

My co-worker Blake and I would be in... We are on the Friday tours as well.

I'm interested, if my husband wants to stay the night.

Awesome!

Are any of you going to have a car?  If not it's no problem, but I'll have to look for a shuttle or come up with something depending on how many of us will be going.

More solid plans to follow...

Sorry I was just  reminded of something and we can't stay Friday night  :(

We will not have a car so we would have to take shuttle or cab.

A former colleague of mine (now working in the UK) and myself would also like to go too, so 2 more people for the shuttle/van or whatever form of transport.

What is the situation regarding tickets - do we buy them ourselves or as a group?

They offer a 40% discount on tickets purchased online through GovX for active and former military and first responders.  A link is provided below.

My wife and I have been looking at this, because we will be coming back in June with our kids for the Texas State Youth Bowling Tournament.  Each qualified person can purchase a certain number of discounted tickets, but I'm not sure how many that would be per qualified person.

If you go to the link there is a FAQ page, and almost all people who are employed by the military or a law enforcement agency or have a .mil or .gov email address qualify for the discounted tickets.  I think that includes the vast majority of AFTE members.  I went to the page due to my pride in having retired from the US Army.

I figured we would just buy the tickets when we got there so we could get a block of tickets together.

I would pre order them but I don't want to put out money for them and have someone no show.  We could maybe use the link that Richard provided and meet up in the hotel lobby at like 6:00pm and do it right then and someone could charge the lot and collect the money once everyone is physically there.

What I plan to do once I'm in town is take to the concierge and see what he recommends to get us a shuttle to the game.

As of right now, I have nine:

Me
Valerie + 2
Jill
Calissa + Blake
Paul + Kerry

That should make the shuttle price palatable if we split it nine ways.

Again, I am on the body farm tour Friday and we are scheduled to be back to the hotel at 6:00, so I am hoping to have our shuttle ready to go at 6:00 and basically jump off of one bus and onto another.

Watch this thread for more info.

It'll work out, I just need to be there before I can get all of the logistics solidified!

If you get a shuttle and still have room, my wife and I would like to join the group.  We were also planning on going to the game, but I hadn't figured out transportation yet.

I suggest you reach out to Rebecca Koenigs from Discover Dallas Tours. She should be able to help with transportation and game tickets.
