Hello all-

For those of you who were at AFTE, you should have received in your welcome packet a "Firearms Family Tree" form to complete and turn in.  For those of you who weren't at AFTE, you may or may not have heard about the Family Tree project.

Kathy Geil and I (well, in all honesty, mostly Kathy so far) are working on a project to track the family tree of training for firearm examiners.  We decided to do this because it was noted in our lab that some of us are directly "related" to each other based on who trained us (and by calling the person you train your "child") - we have firearms "grandchildren", "cousins" and "aunts" and "uncles" working together.

Since mentorship and training is such a cornerstone of our field, we decided to track this piece of our training throughout AFTE and see if we can develop our Firearms Family Tree and see how inter-related we all really are.

For those of you who filled out and returned the form already, thank you so much!  For those of you who haven't filled it out, haven't had a chance to return it or weren't at AFTE and didn't receive a form, I have attached one to this posting.

Please take a minute to fill out the form and return it via email to myself or Kathy Geil.  Once we get this developed, we'd like to post it in the Members Area and keep building on it into the future.

Thanks for your participation!

For those of us who've taught at NFEA, can we get credit as step or foster parents?

Aaron,

Are you angling for someone to call you The Godfather?
