FERC Toolmark Identification Training Class
« on: November 29, 2017, 10:32:03 AM »
The Forensic Education and Resource Committee (FERC) has been tasked with providing free, relevant training to AFTE members.  The Indiana State Police Laboratory has graciously offered to host our first free training course which will cover toolmark identification.  This will be a three day course which will run from Monday February 5th through Wednesday February 7th, 2018 at the ISP Laboratory in Indianapolis.  Although this training is free, students will still be required to pay their own  travel, room, board and required book(s). The capacity for the class is 20 and the remaining spots will be filled on a first come bases.
Please contact Mark Keisler at mkeisler@isp.in.gov to reserve your spot.

Hi Stacey,

Could you post a syllabus if you have one available?

Thanks.

Here is the general outline for the class, subject to some changes.

The class will be instructed by Stacey Phetteplace.

Thanks Stacey!
This is the general syllabus and we will stick with it as much as possible. So far, the class registrants have mixed levels of experience with 50/50 with new and experienced examiners. After speaking to my work colleagues, I have an idea to spend time on organization and documentation, because that is often the most frustrating part of a tool mark case. If there is anything you would like to see discussed, please let me know and I will see if I can work it in.
