Primary Tasks:
Perform forensics services for firearms. Prepare evidence for examination & analysis. Test guns. Restore serial numbers to guns. Repair/restore guns. Analyze and compare crime tools/weapons. Conduct distance analysis. Identify firearms/crime tools. Package evidence. Conduct firearm inspections. Document all examinations detailing examinations performed and results obtained. Perform crime scene investigation, i.e., documentation, collection, and preservation of evidence. Collaborate with internal and external experts during analytical examinations. Procure and maintain equipment. Provide training to police personnel in functions of firearm section. Obtain and maintain fired bullets and cartridge cases. Record data from handguns into governmental databases.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Science, Criminal Justice, Industrial Technology, or related field, plus five (5) years of experience as a forensic firearms and tool marks examiner. Must be court qualified as an expert in the field of firearm and tool mark examination.
