JOB TITLE:    IBIS Support Technician      

DEPARTMENT: Sheriff's Department

The largest Sheriff’s Department in Texas and the third most populous county in America, is searching for an Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS) Support Technician.
         

HOURS: Flexible (Available for Shift Assignments and/or On-Call Duty)
         
SALARY: $2,980.00 per Month Entry Level


BENEFITS:  Excellent retirement investment rate, deferred compensation program, health, dental and vision coverage, disability coverage; 10 days sick leave per year, 3 days funeral leave per year, 3 days family leave per year, 2 weeks vacation per year for first 5 years, three weeks per year after fifth year and then four weeks per year after fifteenth year.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year institution with a major or minor in Natural, and Physical sciences, (Social, Forensic, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Material or Computer Science.  Preferably have prior experience in a Firearms Identification Laboratory. Processing firearms into the IBIS, Receipt and management of submitted evidence, serial number restorations (firearms only), and reporting all findings is required. Must have special training to perform functions outlined in job duties. 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the processing of firearms for entry into the Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS).  Receipt and management of evidence submitted, court testimonies, and other special or technical support of criminal investigations.  Responds to requests for technical expertise from any criminal justice agency.  This position is intended to serve as an entry-level position into the field of Firearms and Tool mark Identification. Testifies in court regarding investigations and identifications.  Responds to request for technical expertise from any criminal justice agency.
