Distance Determination Information Needed

(1/3) > >>

Kimberly James:
Hi All,
I am in need of some feedback and would appreciate any info you would be willing to share.

1.) Is your lab ACCREDITED via ANAB for distance determination? If yes...
2.) What measurement process do you use such as (laser, tape measure, or other)
3.) Did you run our own stats and complete the Uncertainty Budget in-house or did you hire someone?

If this is better posted as a Poll, happy to do so.

Many thanks,
Kim James
Maine State Crime Laboratory

Holli Worden:
Yes (ANAB Accredited), we did uncertainty of measurement using a tape measure and completed the stats in-house.

Loandra Pellot-Vazquez:
ANAB accredited, we use a laser for measurements, and the uncertainty of measurement was completed in-house.

Justine Kreso:
ANAB accredited, laser, and in-house UM.  The stats aren't too difficult and you can use the same template that you do for barrel/overall length.

Richard Rotella:
For SWIFS in Dallas County:

* Yes ANAB Accredited
* Leica Laser with a panel that the muzzle of the gun goes through to allow for measuring off to the side of the firearm
* U of M was done in-house
