REPOSTING DUE TO AFTE FORUM TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES:


We have a vacancy in San Antonio, Texas for a Forensic Scientist level II specifically in the Firearms/Toolmarks Section.


The position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in a scientific discipline. Criminal Justice degrees without an accompanying Science degree are unacceptable.


The position also requires (3) semester credit hours (or equivalent) in college-level statistics course or a program approved by the Texas Forensic Science Commission or be able to obtain the required credit hours within one (1) year of hire.


Note: Sixteen (16) semester credit hours (or equivalent) in college level chemistry coursework above general coursework from an accredited university is NOT required for the Firearms discipline.


This vacancy is specifically for those with 1 or more years of forensic laboratory experience in Firearms/Toolmarks. This includes individuals with Firearms Technician experience, NIBIN Techs, or Correlation experience. Our agency, however, does not utilize NIBIN. Those with partial training or full Firearm Identification training completed, and those with more than one year of experience are encouraged to apply.

Salary range is from $4808 to $6731 monthly. We also offer a progressive career path from Forensic Scientist level I through level V.
