The MIAMI-DADE POLICE DEPARTMENT (MDPD) Crime Laboratory is seeking entry-level firearm examiners.  The candidates will have a BS/BA in a natural science, forensic science or closely related degree.  Must have a valid driver’s license, be US citizen or permanent US resident.  Will have to successfully pass polygraph, background and drug screening prior to being hired.  Please send copies of college transcripts, diplomas, certificates to address below.  If you are anticipating graduating by end of summer 2007 you may apply. 

Starting salary is approximately $43K.

The Laboratory is a large state-of-the-art facility with modern equipment, NIBIN/IBIS stations, an indoor firearms range, shoot tanks, and an extensive firearms collection of a wide variety of weapons from all over the world.  We seek individuals who will meet the challenge of a varied caseload.  We seek an individual who will be an independent examiner within a team environment.   The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to the highly regarded reputation that this laboratory has had for over 40 years.  Currently, the Laboratory has 68 personnel, which includes 9 firearms examiners.  We are in Sunny South Florida with great beaches, plenty of fishing, diving, shows, sports, cruises and many other attractions.
