Las Vegas construction delay necessitates change in venue

Originally scheduled for the new Las Vegas Sands Expo and Convention Center, the 2009 SHOT Show will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, the site of the record-breaking 2007 SHOT Show. The relocation was caused by the decision of Sands' management to change its architectural plans for the new facility. The new plans set back anticipated completion beyond the scheduled dates of the SHOT Show.

"While we're disappointed the Sands won't be ready for us in 2009, it's very fortunate that we retained the option of having the show in Orlando in 2009," said Doug Painter, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which owns and sponsors the SHOT Show. "Orlando is not only a very accommodating location for the show, but it continues to be one of the most popular destinations in the country."



The 2009 SHOT Show is now scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15-Sunday, Jan. 18.  SHOT Show 2008 remains scheduled for the Las Vegas Convention Center from Feb. 2-5.

All indications are that the new Sands Expo and Convention Center will be ready for the SHOT Show in 2010.
