Criminalist II or Criminalist I (Firearms and Toolmarks Examiners)

Salary:    Criminalist II $6,264-$7,691 per month plus attractive benefits package.
Criminalist I:  $5299- $6504 per month plus attractive benefits package.

Recruitment:  opens November 19, 2007; closes January 11, 2008, unless extended.

The Oakland Police Department Criminalistics Laboratory has an opening for Criminalist II (Firearms and Toolmarks Examiners) in its ASCLD-LAB accredited laboratory.  This is the journey level classification in the Criminalist series, and we are seeking candidates who have at least one year, full-time firearms casework experience.  If there are an insufficient number of qualified candidates at the Criminalist II level, the City may fill the vacancy at the Criminalist I level and train as necessary.   A detailed announcement, requirements, and application materials are available at www.oaklandnet.com (click on “City Jobs”) or by calling the laboratory at (510) 238-3386.
