The BAE Systems’ Joint Expeditionary Forensics Facilities (JEFF) Program is aggressively searching for talented professionals with experience as a Firearm and Toolmark Examiner who fosters teamwork and cooperation to perform a variety of physical and microscopic laboratory analyses, comparisons and identifications on all types of firearms, ammunition and toolmark related evidence utilizing established protocols. The candidate must want to be apart of a dynamic team to work in deployed forensic laboratories in Iraq and/or Afghanistan to fight the war on terrorism and assist in country stabilization missions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing and providing supervision concerning various quality control procedures; ensuring the integrity of the evidence by using proper evidence handling protocols; performing examinations of ammunition and ammunition components for determinations of caliber and source of origin using various micrometers, calipers and other measuring equipment; performing comparison examinations of fired bullets, cartridge cases and shotshells; conducting necessary research, development, and validation of new technical procedures; restoration of serial numbers and other obliterated markings; training firearm technicians and junior level firearm examiners; providing informal and formal training and tours; and other duties as assigned. The individual must be able to prioritize, handle, and execute on multiple requests and tasking in order to handle a very high volume of work. In addition to the technical skills above, additional attributes are a must. MUST HAVE:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree coupled with 6 years of related experience; An Associate's degree coupled with 8 years of related experience; or a high school diploma coupled with 10 years of related forensic experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Willing to deploy overseas for 3 to 6 month rotational intervals for a total of at least 1 year.
- Meet contractual requirements associated with the Minimal Standard of Fitness for Deployment.
PREFERANCES:
- Prior military experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience with IBIS and NIBIN database
- Eligible for certification as a Firearms and Tool Mark Examiner by AFTE
