The California Criminalistics Institute in the Sacramento area is pleased to announce the start of their Firearm and Toolmark Examiners Academy in December of this year.  Please see the attached flyer or log in to <oag.ca.gov/cci> for detailed information and an application form.

Hmmmm . . . does this mean that CA will no longer be represented so heavily in the NFEA? . Not that CA being heavily represented it is bad . . . it is just what I recall.

Don't think so.  NIJ severly limits number of CA DOJ students AND numbers of other CA students.  We must have significant numbers of students from other states.  Since we limit academy to 12 students, this doesn't help CA as much as you'd think.  Some, but not nearly enough.

Hi Torrey,

Do you know if examiners not enrolled in the Academy will be able take some of the upper level classes (E201, for example)?

Thanks! :)

The way the schedule is set up would make it too difficult for us in NY to get someone there 1-2 times a month, but if there is the possibility of taking on additional people for specific classes like Jessica asked about, my lab would definitely be interested.  Our trave evidence examiner should be joining our secion around the end of the year.
