The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in collaboration with The Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) and the Scientific Working Group for Firearms and Toolmarks (SWGGUN) is hosting a two-day conference exploring measurement science and standards in the forensic discipline of firearms analysis.

Here is the link to the website containing further information:

Does anyone know where NIST is located?  They gave a street address but did not mention city and state.

I remember John Jones when he worked with the NIJ Technical Working Groups years ago and suspect this will be very worthwhile.

Can someone from SWGGUN or NIST chime in and say what the registration cost will be?

My understanding is the cost for registration is $0.  You will be responsible for travel and lodging (unless you are an invited guest).  The total capacity for the meeting is 75 people.

Is this going to be video taped or some other way of archiving the information related at this conference?  After reading the link, this sounds as if this will be a really good learning / informational conference.

I cannot answer that question in the affirmative, but I have asked the SWGGUN representative on the planning committee to bring that up with the committee to see if this was possible.  No guarantees of course...
