Interesting bolt face - Saiga rifle
« on: May 17, 2024, 10:49:52 AM »
Saw this interesting bolt the other day and thought I would share. I checked the other AK-type rifles in our collection and did not see this style of bolt.

There is an elevated portion of the bolt face that left a heavy impression onto the headstamp portion of the case head.

This is from a Izhmash Saiga rifle in 223 Remington.

Very nice cast, Kirk. These rifles often had a "ringed" or "stepped" neck. Is that the case with the rifle you have?

Yes, just in front of the rifling, there is a heavy set of ring-marks.
