Two positions for Physical Scientist (Firearms & Toolmark Examiner), GS-1301, opened 30 July 2024, with a closing date of 13 August 2024.  These deployable positions are with the Forensic Exploitation Department (FXD), US Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), located on Ft. Gillem, GA. The Forensic Exploitation Department is an organization that provides full-spectrum forensic services to the Department of Defense, intelligence organizations, legal agencies, and other federal and non-federal agencies, worldwide. The job announcement number is DAHT240234274968HKR and can be found on www.usajobs.gov. The salary range is $76,671 - $142,065 per year and they are permanent full-time positions. We will train the right candidates who meet the educational requirements and have minimal forensic experience.

Some additional information on the positions. Generally, the deployment schedule is 18 months at homestation, 6 months deployed. While deployed, you’ll be at a full-service forensic laboratory, and can have a significant increase in pay over the numbers above. While at homestation in Forest Park, GA, you’ll work at the full-service forensic laboratory there, attend training, participate in training and engagements with partner nations around the world, and work on various other tasks within the firearms discipline. Additionally, we currently have a generous telework policy and flexible work schedule. The starting grade and salary is based on experience. The low end of the salary range above is at the lowest grade and with minimum experience.
